Sweet As...
Since my lost post I have moved south a couple hundred kilometers...(miles?)
My last two days in Queenstown where great! The rugby was awesome, New Zealand won! Such a fun game to watch
Offense and Defense are always on the field and is so much ruffer than American Football. Watched the game at Winnies a Pizza bar with an amazing retractable roof that allows the stars to shine in, I want one, lol. Sunday was a food and lounge day followed by a few drinks for Phil's 21st birthday then dancing to great acoustic music. I have come down with a little bit of the cold that I tried to leave behind but it has caught up with me as I am not use to being in such cold weather day in and out. The inside of our room was about as cold as the outside (can see your breath) buurrr!! And I cannot seem to keep my feet warm, so I bought some more socks today.
Yesterday, I headed south and arrived in Invercargill, 20km from the tip of the South island. It was raining today but I ventured through town all day anyways. Went to the Chinese Gardens a few hundred acres of gardens, an aviary, a museum, and multiple sports facilities. The aviary was great as well as the rose gardens, although they are out of season they must be breathtaking in full bloom. Some of the breeds were first recorded pre-1500's. There was also an amazing greenhouse, my favorite of the day
I also checked out the Basilica which was pretty, but uncomparable to those in Italia. All together a day of wondering and thinking....
Tomorrow I plan on going down to Bluff and tramping around the southernest point of the island. It will be keen to see the Ocean at almost sub-antarctic. Then I plan on heading through the Catlands to Dunedin where I will stay till Saturday. Then head to the Winter Solstice with the girl that I am staying with tonight. It is going to be an amazing night of dancing, bonfires, and music celebrating the longest night of the year. Followed by a free hungi breakfast (traditional Maori food cooked underground). From there I will head Northwest hopefully to the west coast then North.
Until next time...
